Surprisingly I enjoyed this exercise. At times it had become time consuming I wasn't sure that I would complete everything. Some sites I'm still unsure about but I'm glad to have gotten the opportunity to learn about them so that I can explore them more in the future. I hope I have completed the 23 tasks.
Some of the things I enjoyed was learning about Library Thing, Image Generators and Delicious. I'm glad that the Queens Library allowed us to participant in this excercise and I look forward to participately in any future excercises.
THANKS!!

#22 Audiobooks
Right now I am taking a reader's advisory course at Queens College and we were required to listen to an audio book. I was disappointed to see that our library had a limited selection. From viewing the Queens Library site I saw that you are able to download audio books and upload them to a portable device. This is great. I also saw that that the selection was inclusive to books that I would like to read, including suspense and mysteries. I'm looking forward to trying to upload an audio book to my ipod when I get a new one.
However, the videos and music that are offered are not new popular items which disappointed me. Some exercise videos however might be useful to me.

#21 Podcasts
I have some knowledge of podcasts but haven't had much use for them. I searched the sites for podcasts to find some pocasts for book reviews. I found one and tried to post it as a RSS feed but had trouble doing so. I hope to continue the excercise at home where it might be easier to play around with it.
I think the concept of being able to listen to book reviews or even book discussion is a great idea to use for libraries.

#20 Youtube
Like I mentioned before I'm in love with youtube. I can find whatever I'm looking for on Youtube, videos, old TV shows, movies, commericals, anything that I might of missed that's news or entertainment worthy.
This is a clip of my niece. My sister uses this site to post videos to her inlaws in Florida. This way they can see their grandkids all the time.
My daughter also likes to post funny videos on Youtube.

#19 Discovering Web 2.0 Tools
The list of Web 2.0 tools seem to have overlapped with the sites and tools that we have been evaluating, so some of the sites that I enjoyed were sites that were already posted on.
One tool I really enjoyed was Library Thing. It is a simple way of having a list of books that I have read and a site that a customer who reads alot might also enjoy.
Also, I'm a big fan of Youtube. If I ever want to see an old episode of a TV show I know where to find it. You can find anything on Youtube.
Also, I'm a big fan of Google Maps. Because I don't have a car or drive whenever me and my boyfriend go on vacation and drive we always get our directions from Google Maps. The directions are specific, accurate and easy to follow.
If someone comes into the library and they need directions I always show them Google Maps, so this is an excellent tool to use in a library.

#18 Collaborate
I used Googledoc to register to do this exercise. Once again this was something that I was unaware was possible to do. The whole process of posting a document online was simple and straight forward. I uploaded a document but did not post it to give it url yet. I'm still working on it. This site seems useful in allowing others to edit what you post instead of emailing documents back and forth.

# 17 1/2 Facebook
As a mother of teenager daughter I know about Facebook and the addiction that it has over everyone. Every time I turn around my daughter is on Facebook. Sometimes I don't understand the fascination about it and then I try to understand that it is a social outlet. Some features that I enjoyed exploring was the fact that you were able to add a slide show to your profile and also upload pictures. Another feature that I liked was the BooksiRead which allows you to post books and reviews. There are so many features that to Facebook that I feel that QL customers would enjoy these included. Many teenagers take advantage of these features and one of there favorites is probably the ability to chat with their friends.
#17 Edit Wiki's
Okay, so I felt a little intimidated trying to edit a wiki. I don't have a wealth of information that I feel confident in, so, I tried my luck trying to edit a shopping wiki. Since I enjoy shopping I figured I might be helpful in this realm. I went to shopwiki which is a shopping wiki and edited a page on girls clothing putting in my input. It amazes me how anyone can edit information and it scares me that so many people except wikipedia as a valid website for authoritative information.

#16 Wiki's
When I think of wiki's the first thing that comes to mind is wikipedia, so learning about what other sources of wiki's that are out there was interesting. I didn't realize that so many libraries were able to make use of this phenomenon. Learning about the resources that these libraries provide through their wiki's was fun to explore. It provides information to the community. It allows librarians the opportunity to post or edit information. Wiki's allow everyone to contribute what knowledge they have to a community. This resource is a wonderful asset to use.
#15 Library 2.0
I hope I'm on schedule and have completed everything up until now.
Reading over some of the articles on Library 2.0 and Web 2.0 I can't but to agree with their perspectives of the future. I find this exercise rewarding and necessary if we are to compete in a technological world. With so much depending on computers and technology it is only in our best interest to keep up to date and maintain an open mind on such opportunities.
Being able to intergrate our knowledge to be able to help library users is essential in ensuring better service to individuals.

Technorati
I have gotten a little behind, so now I'm trying to catch up. I viewed the site Technorati which is a site that searches blogs. I was surprised to see the amount of blogs that are posted. I played around with adding my blog to the site and other blogs as my favorites. I also searched "Learning 2.0" in the search bar and retrieved over 6,000 hits with this term. I assume that this is a popular concept that others are exploring as well. I also searched "Learning 2.0" for blog listings. Here I retrieved over 700 hits. I guess more and more people are adding their blogs.
This experience is more time consuming than I thought. I'm still sticking it out. Hope I make it to the last week.

del.icio.us
Well I checked out this site del.icio.us which is a site for online bookmarking. This would enable me to use my bookmarks on any computer which would be helpful. Now that I am in school trying to get my MLS it might be helpful for using it for research. I haven't had much time to explore this site but hopefully when I'm not too busy I can look into actually using this site effectively. I'll get back and post my progress.

Rollyo
It took me a little awhile to go through what all this site has to offer. Can I kept getting confused about how to directly to the page I had set up. I finally figured out to just put in the url. I find bookmarking sites easier then using this site, but that's just my opinion.

RSS Feeds
Ok, so I never heard of RSS Feed so I assume that this whole process of Library 2.0 as a learning experience is a good idea. Using Bloglines was basically easy. All I had to do was register and add the Feeds that I wanted. I added 10 new feeds which included Book Reviews, entertainment and news. I also included my blog. RSS Feeds are a pretty cool idea.

Technology
Here is my post on technology.
Last week I was at the gym and I forgot my dated Ipod nano in one of the machines. It was not to be found. Now, I can't live without my Ipod and of course Apple has now put out a new line of really cool nanos which is much nicer then my old nano. Just check out http://www.apple.com/ipodnano/ . I'm leaning toward getting the blue one so that I can get back to the gym

What's Fun To Read?
Are there any fun books to read
Misery - Stephen King
Jurassic Park - Michael Crichton
The Quickie - James Patterson
Without the hype of Oprah ?
We all know Oprah can pick a GOOD book
but are they fun to read?

When I first started this blog I thought it had to be about a particular topic. Now I realize it is to post about our Web 2.0 experience.
So, I'm adding a post about what I expect about this experience. I know we live in a world were technology is taking over. All we have to see is look at the 2 year olds able to use a computer mouse to know this is true. I am one for learning new things and not being left in the dark so I am eager to participate in Web 2.0 and learn what resources are out there and how I can better serve the public.
