#23

Surprisingly I enjoyed this exercise. At times it had become time consuming I wasn't sure that I would complete everything. Some sites I'm still unsure about but I'm glad to have gotten the opportunity to learn about them so that I can explore them more in the future. I hope I have completed the 23 tasks.
Some of the things I enjoyed was learning about Library Thing, Image Generators and Delicious. I'm glad that the Queens Library allowed us to participant in this excercise and I look forward to participately in any future excercises.
THANKS!!

#22 Audiobooks

Right now I am taking a reader's advisory course at Queens College and we were required to listen to an audio book. I was disappointed to see that our library had a limited selection. From viewing the Queens Library site I saw that you are able to download audio books and upload them to a portable device. This is great. I also saw that that the selection was inclusive to books that I would like to read, including suspense and mysteries. I'm looking forward to trying to upload an audio book to my ipod when I get a new one.
However, the videos and music that are offered are not new popular items which disappointed me. Some exercise videos however might be useful to me.

#21 Podcasts

I have some knowledge of podcasts but haven't had much use for them. I searched the sites for podcasts to find some pocasts for book reviews. I found one and tried to post it as a RSS feed but had trouble doing so. I hope to continue the excercise at home where it might be easier to play around with it.
I think the concept of being able to listen to book reviews or even book discussion is a great idea to use for libraries.

#20 Youtube

Like I mentioned before I'm in love with youtube. I can find whatever I'm looking for on Youtube, videos, old TV shows, movies, commericals, anything that I might of missed that's news or entertainment worthy.
This is a clip of my niece. My sister uses this site to post videos to her inlaws in Florida. This way they can see their grandkids all the time.
My daughter also likes to post funny videos on Youtube.

#19 Discovering Web 2.0 Tools

The list of Web 2.0 tools seem to have overlapped with the sites and tools that we have been evaluating, so some of the sites that I enjoyed were sites that were already posted on.
One tool I really enjoyed was Library Thing. It is a simple way of having a list of books that I have read and a site that a customer who reads alot might also enjoy.
Also, I'm a big fan of Youtube. If I ever want to see an old episode of a TV show I know where to find it. You can find anything on Youtube.
Also, I'm a big fan of Google Maps. Because I don't have a car or drive whenever me and my boyfriend go on vacation and drive we always get our directions from Google Maps. The directions are specific, accurate and easy to follow.
If someone comes into the library and they need directions I always show them Google Maps, so this is an excellent tool to use in a library.

#18 Collaborate

I used Googledoc to register to do this exercise. Once again this was something that I was unaware was possible to do. The whole process of posting a document online was simple and straight forward. I uploaded a document but did not post it to give it url yet. I'm still working on it. This site seems useful in allowing others to edit what you post instead of emailing documents back and forth.
